Python is a high-level, interpreted, general-purpose programming language, created on December 3, 1989, by Guido van Rossum, with a design philosophy entitled, “There’s only one way to do it, and that’s why it works.”

In the Python language philosophy document, Guido states that he wants “to make Python a better language for general programming than C or Pascal.”

One of the main goals of the Python project was to produce a clear and concise language specification. The original reference manual was eight pages long; compare this to the more than 500 pages in the C++ standard. This is also part of what makes learning Python relatively easy.
